Am prewsh a student in funai i just confirmed this from the school website
" PUBLIC NOTICE: HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION
This is to inform all students that may wish to
stay in the university hostel that they are
expected to pay an additional refundable
CAUTION FEE of N20,000 before they could be
allowed entry into the rooms.
At the end of the academic session, the money
shall be refunded to them if the allocated rooms
and property contained therein are intact and in
good condition.

And i have been asking which school collects CAUTION FEE FROM ITS STUDENTS?
WHICH ROOM REMAINS THE SAME AFTER ONE YEAR?
As for me this is pure scam injustice and corruption. The students don't have SUG and decisions about the institution is being discussed and agreed on only by the senate and the stakeholders without or less regards of what the students thinks about it. First they increased our fees from the initial #36,000 it was to #41,000 for returning students and from #45,000 to #46,000 for new students not minding the the other fees attached to it, This hostel fee was increased from #12,000 to #20,000 and now they are adding another they are up with this so called caution fee. Yes am a 200level student i never had pans of staying in the hostels but what about what about students who don't have money to pay for the expensive lodges we have here in ikwo? Lodges that the price runs into hundreds of thousands. Funai is a young and a wonderful university with the sole essence of imbibing its students with excellence and integrity but with things like this coming up it will only end up harming the image of this great institution.
Coming to think of this #20,000 caution fee i think that if funai should implement it then they should return the money to the students with interest because even if the money was saved in the bank it would have increased after some period of time.
Looking at this caution fee again which house will remain the way it was after one year? I laugh because the money will never return once it is paid. I think this is just a way for the school to collect extra money into their pockets as this one treasury account of a thing implemented by our dear Mr president have stopped them.
This same hostel we are talking about is the same hostel that the some year one students paid for and they slept in class for almost one semester some were squatting with their friends because they don't have their own rooms and these people all paid the then #12,000 for hostel, i almost fell victim of this before i was advised by fellow colleagues not to pay that room where no more available. I don't want to talk about the stress i went through in getting an accommodation
I want to state clearly that even if funai want to caution it's student they should reduce the fee because i know that no room in funai hostel occupy less than 5 students and if we should multiply #20,000 by 5 students it will give a whooping #100,000 (even if the students are pulling down the rooms)
i will urge my fellow students to join me in a peaceful social media protest against this act with the following hastag #CORRUPTIONNOTINFUNAI
